If no apps are open, app-switcher makes phone screen unresponsive (until you hit home button -- but it's not obvious that you need to do that)

STR:
0. Don't have any apps open, to start with.
1. Hold down home button. (Let's say you're a new user, trying to use the phone, and you press buttons for a little bit too long.)
--> Screen dims a bit, as (empty) app-switcher takes the foreground.
2. OK, now your phone has a slightly dimmer screen but otherwise looks normal. Try to interact with it. (e.g. try to launch an app from home screen)
ACTUAL RESULTS: Phone scren is completely unresponsive (until you tap home button again, to leave app-switcher) The (invisible) app-switcher sucks up all touch events and ignores them, apparently.
EXPECTED RESULTS: Touching screen should probably dismiss the app switcher.

Doesn't block - it's a tad awkward, but easy to work-around.

On my device (Peak, running a pretty current Gaia-master+mozilla-central build) the screen goes completely blank, not just slightly dim.

Perhaps the app-switcher should have a "placeholder" message such as "No apps currently running" when it is otherwise empty, displayed in a large, friendly button that the user can tap to dismiss it and return to the home screen.

Me too, on my current Unagi/1.1.0/beta nightly build.
