Details

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:21.0) Gecko/20130109 Firefox/21.0 (20130109030942) STR: 1. Open Firefox with a clean profile. 2. Try to enable the Social sidebar from about:config (set social.enabled as "true"). Actual Results: The Social sidebar doesn't get enabled even after restarting Firefox. Notes: *Also reproduced on Mac OSX 10.8 with the 01/09 Nightly. *Issue not reproducible on Aurora, Beta, and release.
You cannot enable socialapi by setting the enabled flag that way. For socialapi to appear in the UI, you must have a provider that is activated, and social.enabled would be set (automatically). You do not have an activated provider. You should not set social.enabled through prefs. Built in providers like Facebook will be activated on their website through a promotion or install page.
