Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0
Build ID: 20121128204232
Steps to reproduce:
I was using computer - had Thunderbird and Firefox open. The power cord was accidentally pulled from wall. Plugged back in and restarted computer. Tried opening Firefox and Thunderbird. Thunderbird was asking me to setup my accounts as if it was newly installed?
Actual results:
I tired a system restore (Windows 7 upgrade over Vista). Restarted system. Same problem. I went ahead and re-entered two of my 4 email accounts. All my folders are missing (of course) but my address book is still in tact. ??
Expected results:
I don't think I should have had to re-set due to a power failure. It has happened many times in the past and I have never had to re-activate my accounts.
Maybe Windows is playing some games with you and has changed your user profile. Anyway, your mail folders should still be on the disk somewhere, just find them with the Windows explorer and then in Thunderbird open Account settings -> Server settings and point the "Local directory" path to the filesystem folder where you found your mail folders. Do this for each of your 4 accounts (find the folder of each of them).
Thanks - I was able to find folders and re-establish links/email accounts!!
