Sheeri is helping me get a sanitized version of the builder database ( hashed email fields ) and she also advised me to make this request in order to be able to get full database dumps that include user data.

Background: I am the product manager for the Add-on SDK & Add-on Builder, and I need to get access to builder data in order to evaluate how builder is used by add-on developers.

Jeff,

1. What is the "builder database"?

2. When you say "get access to builder data", what kind of data do are you talking about?
1. The mysql database that powers http://builder.addons.mozilla.org/

For the purposes of this conversation, the main issue regarding access is that this database includes personally identifying information ( emails, actually ) for ~ 30,000 people.

2. I want an un-sanitized backup of the database. Sheeri has already helped me immensely by providing a backup copy that has the email addresses hashed. An eventual goal of mine is to directly contact some of these users via email though.

Let me know if you have any further questions!
Ok. I'll try to find someone from the privacy team to ack this.
Alex/Tom,

Can one of you comment on this request?

Thanks.
Hello!

Could you please file a Privacy > Data Release Proposal bug with a description of how you're going to be using the data, and a specification of what's in the database?

[For future reference, the best way to get my attention is either to needinfo? me or file a bug directly, otherwise bugmail gets lost in the "cc" folder (an extensive collection).]

Thanks!
Jeff,

Have you filed the Data Release Proposal bug?
No response in 9 months. Not needed? Closing bug.
