When the new app is launched for the first time and gaia does not have a screenshot of the app UI to show while booting, it goes through a white screen which produces flickering experience. video: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/355217/gaia/app%20start%20flick.m4v It doesn't happen for all apps (doesn't happen for SMS, dialer or browser for example) and the first example in the video is the proper boot behavior. The next two app launches contain flicker.

The white flash might be result of lazily loading, where the viewport shifts before the panel loads. I am really not the expert on Settings app...
