Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Build ID: 20130108132750 Steps to reproduce: I opened a PDF, selected text and copied, then pasted it into a plain-text program (i.e. notepad) Example PDF: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr60/nvsr60_03.pdf (first paragraph pasted below) produced: Objective— This report presents final 2009 data on U.S. deaths, death rates, life expectancy, infant mortality, and trends by selected characteristics such as age, sex, Hispanic origin, race, state of residence, and cause of death. Actual results: For one PDF, I got 1 word per line. Objective— This report presents final 2009 data on U.S. deaths, death rates, life expectancy, infant mortality, and trends by selected characteristics such as age, sex, Hispanic origin, race, state of residence, and cause of death. For another PDF it broke text like this: five years of experience. Skilled in Python, TrollTech’s Qt framework (including PyQt), Pure MVC, Adobe Flex, ActionScript , MXML and Javascript. Proficient in C++ and Forth. Also skilled with Blender 3D and basic 3D modeling and rendering concepts. Some familiarity with HTML5, PHP, Code Igniter PHP framework , Struts framework, and SQL database queries . Moderate familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and HP Whereas all text being copied was from continuous text paragraphs. Expected results: The text should have not been broken into lines, unless broken in the document.
Sorry, the paragraph appeared like this in the source material: Objective— This report presents final 2009 data on U.S. deaths, death rates, life expectancy, infant mortality, and trends by selected characteristics such as age, sex, Hispanic origin, race, state of residence, and cause of death.
