User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/17.0 Build ID: 20121128204232 Steps to reproduce: Close Firefox on a regular way Open Firefox again Please note: I only recentely notice this error appearing at more and more of my customers - which includes a school with class-pc's. All Firefox-versions are v18. Actual results: An error-message will appear stating "Firefox is already running in the background. To open Firefox, close the process or restart your computer". Expected results: Firefox should've opened.
That reminds me - before any brilliant mind reminds me that I am running Firefox v17 --> yes, that is correct. I myself have not updated to v18 yet to avoid a possible bug in v18 which might cause this.
I don't think that there is anything that we could do without steps to reproduce. Do you use extensions in your installation ? FYI: You get this error message if a Firefox process failed to close properly We are working on a general solution with bug 662444 to solve this.
It is passed a long time since you have reported this. Can you still reproduce it on newer Firefox versions? Can you provide more info about that?
