User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 Build ID: 20121025230526 Steps to reproduce: I went to a web site using the location bar. Then wanted to go to another website by typing its address in the location bar (hoping for auto complete). I used the keayboard to type the address. (the computer is a macbookpro of jan 2012 with the 10.7 version (up to date)). This bug appears intermitently but fairly often. Actual results: The computer beeps and nothing appeared on the location bar. Expected results: I should see what I type in the location bar. As it used to be with FF17.
OS: Linux → Mac OS X

No, it does not. The bug appears intermitently and I cannot figure out what triggers this bug. The problem can be solved by adding a new tab. If you test with Firefox 17 (you'll find a version here for Mac http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/17.0.1/mac/), is the issue still present? If the issue is not reproducible with FF17, maybe there is a regression bug. So if that's the case, could you use the devtool mozregression (http://harthur.github.com/mozregression/) to find a possible regression range. FF18 nightlies started in August (--good=2012-08-01).

The issue is still present with FF19. I never had it before FF18.

You need to reproduce it and use mozregression to find a potential regression range. There is nothing we can do if we aren't able to reproduce on our side or to have clues about a culprit patch. Are you sure it's not an hardware issue like here? http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/os-x-apps-games/213491-my-mac-makes-beeping-sound-when-using-safari.html

To be more precise, it happens after multi clicking to select a word, a phrase in an area where text can be typed. The issue can vanish after opening a new tab, changing from a tab to another. I am not really willing to use mozregression.

(In reply to hnr.henry@gmail.com from comment #8) > I am not really willing to use mozregression. So, don't expect to see the bug fixed, especially if you're the only user to repro the issue.
Hi Henry, Can you test this with the latest Firefox version(43.0.4) and the latest Nightly(46.0a1), and see if you still reproduce this? Please use these links if you want to download FF and Nightly: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and https://nightly.mozilla.org/ Thank you, Vlad

With the current version on my mac with the latest(more or less) version of mac os, this bug is gone. This is good news because I can now use firefox everywhere. Thanks a lot for the work (on a general level).
