User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.52 Safari/537.17 Steps to reproduce: When clicking Firefox icon (from taskbar or from desktop) nothing happens - I checked the Windows Joblist to see whether process had started - the Firefox process showed up for a short time but disappeared immediately afterwards ½-1 second - my OS: Windows Vista Home Premium. Service Pack 2. Intel Celeron 32-bit When downloading new version of Firefox and reinstalling everything goes OK again, and you may start Firefox normally. It happened for me the second time today, leading me to this time upgrade to Firefox 18.0.1 - the first time this happened I was upraded to Firefox 18.0.0 It seems like if the Firefox won't start when there is a new version ready, but I might not say whether it is the reason. It is possible to live with this bug, as it only requires Firefox to be reinstalled - hence the problem will not be reproduced (but perhaps might be at next update?) Actual results: Firefox did not start - a Firefox proces which had already started closed down immediately Expected results: Normal start of the FF browser
Component: Untriaged → Application Update
Product: Firefox → Toolkit
When this happens next we will need to perform so diagnostics while in this state. Please let us know when it is next in this state and don't reinstall when it happens so we can check some things out.
I could not reproduce the above issue on Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. I updated Firefox 17 and Firefox 18 to the latest Firefox 18.0.1. I installed both version and checked for updates in Tools->About Firefox, instead of clicking on the Restart to Update button I closed Firefox and reopened it again. The updated version starts with no problem.
Hi, the state has reappeared on the Vista machine after the update to 8.0.2 - I have followed advice and not reinstalled Firefox, so that diagnostics could be performed in this state (My Window 7 - machine have no problems with Firefox) (In reply to Robert Strong [:rstrong] (do not email) from comment #1) > When this happens next we will need to perform so diagnostics while in this > state.
