Attached image about:memory screenshot
I visited website http://www.infoq.com/presentations/Real-time-Web-WebSocket-SPDY and Firefox memory usage increased above 1GB.

After page load, open about:memory (open it in separate window, so decoded images won't be discarded). The "uncompressed-heap" measurement in "images" reports excessive memory usage, although site does not seem to use any large image.

Reproduced in latest Nightly 21.

Per Log umpteen Times of
http://www.infoq.com/resource/presentations/Real-time-Web-WebSocket-SPDY/en/slides/sxxx.jpg Files are loaded.
So this sounds expected, no?
Hm, I didn't check the resolution of those images, just the file sizes; my mistake.

Still, Chrome/IE also loads all those images and consumes just 50-100MB of memory.
I believe this will be fixed by the patches in bug 689623.
