Details

From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17 i686; en-US; rv:0.9) Gecko/20010505
BuildID: 2001050521

Sometimes I get blank pages, in particular when a load a second copy
of Mozilla (I'd like to do this because of the serialized DNS bug).
And clicking on the "Reload" button removes the URL.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load a second copy of Mozilla (in this case, I can reproduce the
bug every time).
2. Click on the "Reload" button.
3. Click on the "Reload" button (again).

Actual Results:
After step 1, a blank page appears (the above URL is my home page,
but there are similar problems when opening a new web location).
After step 2, the URL disappears! And the page is still blank.
After step 3, the URL becomes "about:blank", and the page is still
blank. Clicking on the "Reload" button does not change anything.

Expected Results: The page should appear.
So you're running two instances of Mozilla from the same profile? You're likely
having issues just due to the fact that they both write to the same files in
the profile....
Yes, I have 2 instances of Mozilla from the same profile.
Is it related to my problem?
Can't there be a lock or something like that?
If files can't be locked individually, there should be a global lock,
to prevent the user from running 2 instances of Mozilla by mistake.
Vincent: There is already a bug about that lock. (for the user profile)
I have no problem with this on RedHat6.2, build 2001062017.
Vincent, could you please retest this with a newer build. Does Mozilla behave
the same when using [File | New Navigator Windows ] instead of starting a second
instance of Mozilla. This would be more easier, too;)

This seems to be now OK (with 2001070121). Thanks.
Oops, no. This is not OK. While I was browsing (after killing
the other browser instances), a page became blank. And I could
read at the bottom of the window:

Read /.../.mozilla/lefevre/sduqy0mt.slt/Cache/3301067Fd01
This line didn't disappear, and the Mozilla icon (top right)
showed that Mozilla wasn't doing anything.

We do not support running multiple browser instances using the same profile. If
at any time this was done, it is possible the cache database (or other files)
could have become corrupted. If you seem to be having a problem with the cache,
I suggested clearing the cache using the the buttons in
Preferences/Advanced/Cache before trying to reproduce the potential bug.

Thanks.
