On the desktop, most of the times I want to stop a page is load is shortly after I start loading, when I realised that I clicked the wrong link, or typed the wrong thing into the address bar. On Android, I find it very hard to press the "x" in time. It'd be great if the hardware back button would stop page loading if the page indeed loading. I actually instinctively do this already, and it ends up actually moving to the previous page, which isn't what I want.
Overriding expected platform behaviour is not really a good idea. Perhaps an add-on would be best suitable.
I agree, I think it would be confusing for the back button to sometimes stop page load, and other times go back in history.
OK. I guess I'd just like the stop button to be more easily invoked, like you can quickly press Escape on desktop. I don't have any other concrete suggestions.
