In Firefox 21.0a1 there are three different places you can go to add a new tab or a new private tab. A. "+" button at the bottom left of the tab sidebar B. Menu at the bottom right of the tab sidebar C. Menu at the right of the top browser toolbar If you use (A) or (C) then the tab sidebar stays open after the tab is added. If you use option (B) then the sidebar closes automatically after the tab is added. We should probably make all three of these consistent, one way or the other.
<mfinkle> the tabs panel is becoming "non-stick", closing as soon as the user has made an action. we plan to add a "pinned" mode that will keep it visible too <mbrubeck> I'd suggest making all the "add tab" stuff keep the sidebar open for now (just like switching tabs and closing tabs keeps it open), and then change everything to "non-stick" at once, so we're not in a weird half-way state. <ibarlow> fine with me. I agree we should be consistent
