http://www.iltasanomat.fi for example has some Flash based ads occasionally in the background (seems like not all the loads get the fullpage background ad). Scrolling that page is never very fast, but when Flash is disabled (I'm using CTP), scrolling is very slow. About 30% of FF cpu time goes to stuff under nsCSSRendering::PaintGradients I assume we end up using this: http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/toolkit/themes/pinstripe/mozapps/plugins/pluginProblem.css#9 Could we not use gradients if we can't paint them fast enough?
Summary: When plugins are disabled using CTP, scrolling is can become super slow → When plugins are disabled using CTP, scrolling can become super slow
