Please provide much more detailed STR !
This are my STR that I used for testing
1) load http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=31
2) login using your credentials (you can use "Mozilla" and "1234")
3) type something in the edit field
4) try to close the tab and you get a warning
5) both options in the warning are working for me with Firefox18.0.1 on OSX18.0.1
I suspect that you hit one of the keyboard shortcuts to close the tab/window/Firefox or you would not get the dialog
Have you tried closing the dialog with the keyboard ?
There is a known deadlock on OSX in case you get 2 dialogs at the same time.

Tested using the STR from comment 1. Works for me on Latest Nightly using both options from the warning on Mac OS X 10.7.5.
black_point, can you reproduce in Safe Mode
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
or with a new profile?

black_point, I added a "needinfo" flag hoping you might answer Virgil and Matti's questions. Is the forum you mentioned the only site where you have experienced the spontaneous quit message? And, can you try visiting it and posting with Firefox in safe mode, so that the extensions are off?
I tried posting in this forum and was able to do so successfully without Firefox attempting to close the window.

I have not tried Safe Mode or a new profile. In fact, since posting the issue it has not recurred. Until today, and that with a difference. When I clicked "Stay on Page" the error dialogue disappeared and I was able to continue inputting text (on CPF). Why did the dialog operate normally this time and not before? Also, this time I suspect this dialog appeared because my fingers hit unintended keystrokes, as Matthias suggested might be the case.

OK, sounds like it's working then. If the problem happens again, please try to reproduce it in safe mode, and if it happens then, we can reopen.
