UCID: Contacts-003 User Story: As a user, I want to be able to import my contacts from Hotmail so that I can easily connect with my friends without manually adding contacts.
Keywords: feature
Summary: [B2G][Contacts][User Story] Hotmail contact import → [Contacts][User Story] Hotmail contact import
First draft IxD for contact import has been posted to: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vvl7fx24iuv6qxg/contacts-import-130122.pdf The UX basically reflects what is already in place for Facebook contacts import. Any comment welcome!

Marking as leo? as this feature is needed in v1.1

Clearing tracking-b2g18 flag from User Story bugs. This flag is for bugs that we would take fixes for in the 1.x branch. Feature work should be officially slotted into a release instead with leo+. If this story is intended for v1.1, please nominate for leo? blocking.

From UX tracking bug, attaching it here where the conversation should be happening about this user story. Ayman- be sure to post spec here (title has "User Story"). FYI Thanks! Jaime
Flags: needinfo?(aymanmaat)
Hi Jaime The spec was not attached here because though it is a document covering Gmail and Hotmail together, if you take a look inside, the spec only covers Gmail at the moment... So it was not appropriate to post it in the Hotmail Use Story just yet. i perceive no UX difference between Gmail and Hotmail but have been waiting for confirmation from Dev that his is actually so before updating the document appropriately, publishing V2.0 and attaching it here. R.F.I to Francisco to confirm that Gmail and Hotmail will be behaviorally the same so we can close this conversation. Ayman
Flags: needinfo?(aymanmaat) → needinfo?(francisco.jordano)
Hi all, yes, the behaviour of both kind of imports will be the same, we also suggest that any new 'possible' contacts source follows the same behaviour as well. Cheers, F.

@arcturus implemented a few months ago a Google contacts importer, which you can install it by downloading it from https://github.com/arcturus/firefoxos-contacts-importer A quite useful feature he implemented was that the user is able to selected to: 1) download all GMail contacts 2) Only download those contacts which have a phone number. Im my case I have thousands of GMail contacts (whoever has sent me an email is a contact), and I only have 165 contacts with a phone number. I'm only interested in those. The code has already been written, so it should be easy to have it landed. @Ayman, could you include this feature?

Miguel, a first version GMail import is already landed as well as Windows Live (Hotmail). They are available in the FTU in the master branch.

TEF is covering testing of this I think. Isabel - Are you covering the test case development of this?

is there anything in this bug which requires branch landing?
(In reply to John Ford [:jhford] from comment #13) > is there anything in this bug which requires branch landing? Hi John, AFAIK, this was a metabug, all the dependencies that add code should have landed on the proper branches :) Thanks!
I went through the bug dependencies here. You were mostly correct that all of the deps that add code are landed in the appropriate place bug 844233 seems like it was closed without anything having happened bug 848811 looks like an information request not a code change bug 856646 wasn't uplifted, but I have since uplifted it Given that all the code dependencies are now uplifted, I'm going to mark this bug as fixed for it's leo+ flag.
