(Whiteboard: [platform-rel-Microsoft][platform-rel-Outlook])
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; rv:21.0) Gecko/20130214 Firefox/21.0
Build ID: 20130214032850
Actual results:
Clicking drop-down menus or changing folders results in sluggish transitions or no transition at all.
Expected results:
There should be smooth transitions between folders and drop-down menus.
Issue isn't present in both Chrome or IE.
Do you observe the same issue with Aurora or Beta or Firefox 18 versions?
Flags: needinfo?(claritise)
It's smoother in Aurora using a new profile. But it still feels jerky.
The main issue is that when there is high CPU utilisation the transitions fail to appear at times.

Is your Issue reproducible when you disable the Hardware Acceleration under Options/Advanced/General and restart Firefox?
Hardware acceleration is automatically disabled due to low computer specs.

Since you tested against Chrome, does running Chrome with "--disable-gpu --disable-software-rasterizer" make a Difference?
The issue is somewhat reproducible with Chrome using the command given.
All the transitions are smooth, the only somewhat sluggish transition would be selecting a folder with lots of items. Even with this, the transition is still shown.
Firefox doesn't even show the folder transitions sometimes.

Can you reproduce this issue in safe mode? What about with a clean profile?

It's reproducible in both cases, but somewhat less evident with a clean profile.
This issue is probably most evident in old computers.
The transitions feel slightly faster with the latest nightly, but it's definitely not as smooth as IE 10.
