RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 830354

People

(Reporter: dafreez, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130218103317

Steps to reproduce:

either enter an address in google search or go to a site with an embedded view google maps (tested on funda.nl) on my Nexus 4 (phone) running the latest firefox for Android.

Actual results:

Although an image of the location shows up in the search result/embedded map, this is not clickable as a link or movable, zoomable etc. Instead it seems to just be an image file.

Also, maps is not listed as an option under more in google search results, instead I get redirected to a list of google mobile apps.

NOTE 1: This occurs only on my Nexus 4 phone, not on my Nexus 7 tablet! Both for search results and embedded maps.

NOTE 2: Same problem occurred in FF18

Expected results:

I expect the google maps search result to be clickable as a link and embedded map to be movable, zoomable etc.

Google Maps is serving an image not an embeddable map.

Then why do I not have the same issue using Chrome Browser on the same device?
Google serves different content to different browsers based on user-agent sniffing and feature detection. Google probably is not detecting that we actually support touch-events for their embeddable maps and is unfortunately sending poor content instead of content that we actually do support. This is more of an evangelism issue and not an issue with the browser.
Ok, got it. Thanx for the super quick response!!

Is there any way I can report this to Google so they can (hopefully) fix this issue.
Sure thing; thanks for filing this and raising this issue. I would try with the Google Maps forums http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/maps - getting through to Google is often a challenge though.
