gaia version in settings does not show hg revisions

Details
1. clone and make a build from https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/gaia-1_0_1/
2. check the settings
Expected: hg rev should show in gaia
Actual: if you have a .git info, it pulls the information from that instead, and doesn't allow you to build based off the hg rev version.
Note:
1. pvtbuilds are based off of hg/integration

It doesn't seem to like github gaia branch v1.0.1 either... Gaia Unknown Git commit; build date shown here.
