Are you sure this is an XML bug? I see no difference in behaviour with HTML.
When I saved the file as HTML and edited the XML crap out, it worked just the
same as the XML case.

The link shows always as unvisited to me. When I keep the mouse pressed on it,
it shows green.

If you can confirm that this indeed is also a problem with normal HTML attach a
new HTML testcase and reassign this bug to proper folks.

Duplicate of 12493, layout does not canonicalize URIs for global history lookup.
