User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Build ID: 20130227155931 Steps to reproduce: When renaming a video file to .htm, and then launching it with firefox, firefox locks up and then crashes.
Please provide the URL or an attachment to reproduce the issue. Does it happen in Safe Mode (see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode)? What is the crash ID from about:crashes?
Severity: normal → critical
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
It happens with any video that is renamed to .html. I can't upload an attachment because bugzilla says they are too large.

What about the safe mode and the crash ID? (In reply to ill from comment #2) > It happens with any video that is renamed to .html. What is the interest of this while there are many extensions that save directly videos in the right format? > I can't upload an attachment because bugzilla says they are too large. Use a hosting file service.
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
It happens in safe mode, but no crash id for the time it happened shows up in the crash page.

Without a stack trace (see https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report), this bug will be closed as incomplete.

I attempted to use xulrunner, but it did not run.

It probably crashes due to out-of-memory. Then this bug is sure a duplicate.
what is it a dupe of then?

this is incomplete and useless without a testcase or stack. please do not reopen bug without one or both

(In reply to ill from comment #8) > what is it a dupe of then? I've seen dismissed bugs where Firefox performance was disturbed by a correct interpretation of a page or a script.
"this is incomplete and useless without a testcase or stack. please do not reopen bug without one or both" it is easily reproducible. That counts as a testcase

Testcase: open this for viewing in firefox. It then freezes and crashes when trying to view it. http://mirrors.usinternet.com/ubuntu/releases//precise/ubuntu-12.04.3-alternate-amd64.iso

To view it with what? Provide exact steps of what you are doing.
Flags: needinfo?(illumilore)
To view it with firefox directly. Download the iso and change its suffix to .html and then have firefox view it. It doesn't matter what the file is, firefox will freeze and then crash for me.

Expected behavior -> not a bug. Return when you will have some meaningful/real world example

I don't think it is reasonable to download a linux iso, rename it to have a .html extension, and expect it to open in Firefox. I don't think this bug report is useful and we don't have sufficient info to reproduce the bug.I'd like to suggest again that when you report a bug, you should look over the Bug Writing Guidelines here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines.
