Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:22.0) Gecko/20130306 Firefox/22.0
Build ID: 20130306031012

Steps to reproduce:

Could BMO provide a little icon beside the email which when hovered over could provide Device, Android Version and Firefox Version) making it easier on both users and developers when dealing with bugs?
i don't think this idea will work for a number of reasons.

it's only applicable to a subset of development work being tracked by bugzilla, so its exposure needs to be somehow limited to android specific issues.

we don't have anywhere to collect or store that data currently. while we could extend the profiles schema and add a new data collection form, for performance reasons i'm keen to avoid extending the profiles table unless absolutely required.

it won't help with users that have multiple devices (i have 4 android devices in my house running firefox); so triage/devs will still end up having to ask which device is relevant to that bug report.

perhaps a better solution would be to capture that information at bug creation time, and include it into the initial comment (on the guided bug entry form only). if you think that'll work, feel free to flesh out the fields that you'd like to see, along with the criteria which would trigger making these fields visible (product = fennec?), and raise another bug in the 'extensions: guidedbugentry' component.

another solution would be to capture that information on mozillians, and link there instead.

Well I think something needs to be done. I personally think the simplest solution would be to actually fix bug 101865 and thus encourage the ability to file bugs directly from the mobile devices inflicted with the problems. That said, accepting more information at bug creation would be paper over the cracks.
