Please see NSPR bug 849089 for more background info.

The ac_cv_prog_hostcc_works and ac_cv_prog_hostcxx_works variables
are set but never used in configure.in and js/src/configure.in.

In fact, there is a syntax error in the way we set the variables.
It is missing a semicolon (or a new line). This breaks autoconf
2.50+. With autoconf 2.13, this generates incorrect code --
the variables are set as environment variables for the invocation
of an 'echo' command. Since we are not using the variables, this
mistake was not discovered.
