Run Fx with a new Profile. Make sure 'gfx.content.azure.enabled' in prefs is set to TRUE. If set to FALSE the problem doesn't occur. Place this one line of CSS code in yournewprofile\chrome\UserChrome.css and save it: #sidebar-header{box-shadow: 3px 3px 3px hsla(213,44%,40%,.1) inset !important} Restart Firefox with the new profile. Open up the Bookmark or History sidebar. Now move the pointer around and over the close button until the close box turns the color of your caption bar. It might take a little time. Here's what the close button looks like for me: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/594/closelz.png/ I originally mentioned this at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837489 but I'm not sure it's related or not. Changing the one line of code by removing 'inset' or changing box-shadow to 3px 1px 1px eliminates the problem as do other modifications to the line of code. I've only tested on Nightly Fx22 under Windows 8 Pro x64 with a Sapphire HD7970.

Forgot to mention that I discovered this quirk by using the Stylish Style found here at http://userstyles.org/styles/60468/firefox-australis-mockup-theme. I didn't have this problem a few months back. The same one line of code is used in other places like the bookmark toolbar and the sidebar list to name a few. These areas will also become the color of the caption bar unexpectedly. Unlike the sidebar close button I can't reproduce the problem, it will just happen.

I don't believe there is a regression window to be found in Fx. It appeared when I installed the same AMD drivers as mentioned in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=837489. I do not have the problems others reported in that bug report although at a few sites I get triangles of different colors in the content. This isn't reproducible at will. I opened a bug report with AMD and they stated it wasn't theirr problem and told me to disable azure.

Forgot all about this one. I haven't had the problem in a long time. It can be closed.
