RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1235686

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0
Build ID: 20130307023931

Steps to reproduce:

Hardware: ASUS G74SX laptop, Logitech MX518 mouse
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64
Notes: I have my touchpad set to disable itself when a mouse is plugged in

1. Do not connect any USB mice to the laptop so that the only pointing device is the touchpad.
2. Launch Firefox, browse a few sites and make sure to scroll with the touchpad.
3. Connect a USB mouse while Firefox remains open.
4. Go back to browsing the sites you left open and attempt to scroll with the mouse wheel.

Actual results:

Under this scenario, the scroll wheel on my USB mouse scrolls much more slowly than normal. It feels as though the scroll speed from the touchpad is being cached within Firefox and when a new mouse is attached the new speed isn't being pulled in. I can workaround the issue by closing all Firefox windows and starting a new session after the mouse has been connected.

Expected results:

Each pointing device should scroll at its configured speed without having to restart the application in between.
