From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:0.9.1) Gecko/20010607 BuildID: .9.1 Using .9.0 I couldn't log in, it would take forever to load. Using .9.1 when i enter the password, it basically loads to bring me back to the "enter password" page. And I still can't log in. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to www.hotmail.com 2.type user name and password 3.and it'll keep asking you to do it. Actual Results: it keeps asking you to enter your password even after you have done so a million times. Expected Results: entered my hotmail email account
confirmed win98 build:2001060820
This happens on Macintosh 2001050518, too. Trying it a few times make Mozilla want to freeze, particularly if I have multiple browser windows open, but I can still force-quit. Thoughts: - Hotmail sets up an SSL connection to send your username and password across the network securely even although your email is sent to you as cleartext. Perhaps Mozilla has problems establishing the SSL connection - I've read a few bugs about SSL, but they seem to actually give an error of some sort rather than just giving up and returning to the same page. - Microsoft (the company which runs Hotmail) did make Hotmail inacessable to Netscape 4 - on purpose, some would say. Could they have done something similar to Netscape/Mozilla? - Some people are having problems logging in to other webmail accounts, but they fail in a different way - you may want to look at bug 50371
worksforme build 2001060308 win2k. Make sure you have cookies enabled, otherwise you will most certainly have that problem.
Sounds a lot like another example of 82463
worksforme with win2k build 20010610.. (CVS opt)
It takes suspiciously long to resolved the hostname (according to the status bar thigy). This also happens logging on to the page mentioned in bug 82463 , so I'm betting it's an SSL problem.
Probably a dup of bug 83625. It has been fixed, please try with a nightly, thanks.
Worksforme with 061504 mozilla win32 build on win2K and win98, 061508 mozilla linux build on RedHat 6.2 and 061508 mozilla mac build on OS 8.5 and 9.1 Please reopen if you are still seeing this with a current nightly build. Thanks for your help in testing Mozilla and reporting bugs.
