Details

STR: 1) Enable a bullet-point-indented line, like: --- * blah blah --- 2) select the entire line (both words) 3) start typing to overwrite the text ("hello"). This will remove the bullet point so you end up with: --- hello --- Contrast that with: 2) Select the entire line 3) **Press backspace** thus emptying the line 4) type "hello" which results in --- * hello --- The bullet point remains. This bug exists in both the classic etherpad and etherpad lite.
Hmm not sure if this is a bug or working as intended. It may be a behavior of Ace. :wenzel, does this work differently in other software, e.g. wordprocessors like google docs/MS word? I'd like to have some precedent when I talk to etherpad devs about this.

Google Docs does not exhibit this behavior (the way docs does it feels right to me so I suspect that other popular word processors I've used in the distant past do not as well)
Yeah, no word processor I've ever used works like comment 0. They are all consistent between overwriting and deleting, then typing. I just checked with OpenOffice / LibreOffice and that works as expected too.
