What problems would this solve?

Some reviewers would like to be emailed when new articles are ready for review. There should be options to receive a daily digest of articles for review, or individual emails each time a new review is requested. There should also be an option to receive a weekly overview of all reviews they're queued for.

In their profile, they should be able to configure what type of review notifications they prefer to get; this would be one of those.
