The page given in the URL field comes up blank (using BUILD 2001060712). Renders
correctly in Netscape4.5 and IE5. This might be becuase the page tries to detect
whether Flashplayer is installed. Flash is installed on my system for NS4.5 and
IE but I couldn't get it to install for Mozilla. In any case the page should
either render correctly or display a warining if no Flash is detected. This
might not be Mozilla's fault.
WFM 2001061020-trunk/Win2K with Flash installed properly..

does Flash show up on your browser when you do about:plugins ?
No, Flash was not installed (as evidenced by about:plugins), thank you for that
tip. Now that I've copied the plugin from Netscape's directory to Mozilla's and
now everything works as expected.

Two points: - The Macromedia Installer didn't let me install the plug-in into
Mozilla's directory, even if I selected it manually (that's probably not our fault)

More importantly: when I load the page with Netscape without the Flash plugin
there is a warning and a dialog that offers to d/l the plugin. When trying to
view the page in Mozilla without the plugin, there is no such warning. The page
just renders blank without any notice. Is that a Mozilla bug, or is it the
page's fault? (Changing summary accordingly)
Summary: this page renders blank → no warning when necessary plugin not found

btw: default plugin pops up even without the flash plugin installed. Can you
chek if you have the 'defaul plugin' in ur plugins folder?Thx!
about:plugins shows active default plugin (and MRJ Java plugin). Still, when
visiting the referenced URL (and presumably other Flash sites as well) the
default plugin does not appear to be activated when the Flash plugin isn't
installed (I've deleted the plugin from Mozilla's plugin dir and restarted the app).

In light of this, would you please reconsider marking this bug as invalid?
I see what you saw ! However, the default plugin DID work the first time I tried
this ( it launched another window and took me to the flash download page). I
dismissd that window and then retried this. The home page just appears blan kand
no default plugin comes up. reopening for peter's comment..

Peter, is Mac default plugin does the same thing as Windows default plugin? I.e.
doesn't pop up if this mime type already been seen? If so, this kind of
behaviour would be expected.
I'm not seeing this error anymore with mozilla 0.9.2. Missing plug-in is
reported as expected. Shrirang, you reproduced my initial report; is the bug
fixed for you too? If so, we could resolve it as fixed.
Yes, the Mac default plugin does the same as the Windows for remembering
mime-types. This bug is WORKSFORME.

Note: on Mac, we now support the System:Internet Plugins Folder so if Flash is
installed there, Mozilla should pick it up. The Flash installer does not
recognize Mozilla. Find the plugin and copy it manually after installing of you
are still having problems.
