From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.4.5 i686; en-US; rv:0.9.1) Gecko/20010607 BuildID: 2001060713 While checking e-mails at http://www.hushmail.com (account required), a Java applet is loaded in order to view the e-mails. This applets has several buttons to view/reply/save the e-mails. After clicking a couple of buttons, the applet becomes irresponsive. That is, when you click a button, nothing happens. The buttons is shown to be pressed but there is no activity. A work-around is to load the Java console (Tasks/Tools/Java Console) and press the "g" key for "garbage collection". Then the applet is alive again. However, after a bit the problem reappears and one needs to press "g" every time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Get a hushmail account (www.hushmail.com). 2.Login and view the e-mails. Once in, a Java Applet is loaded through SSL allowing you to check e-mails. 3. Click buttons to view/create e-mails. 4. After clicking 2/3 buttons, the applet becomes irresponsive. It requires manual garbage collection as mentioned in the Description of this bug. Actual Results: The applet becomes irresponsive. Expected Results: The applet should be working fine. I am not sure if it is solely a Java Plugin issue or if it is Mozilla-bridge related. I am using the Java Plugin version: Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.3.0_01 Using JRE version 1.3.0_01 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM In case this bug stays a long time, it applies to HushMail 1.4.

When I try this on win32, it say I must enable javascript, even though javascript is enabled. I've filed bug 85837 on that.
Well, I think this is another lazy loading related bug. If I start the browser, then go to Tasks->Tools->Java Console, wait for the console to appear, THEN visit the applet, I can login and read and send mail successfully. But oddly enough, I have to click on each of the buttons several times before they take affect. At least it works.
I have filed sun internal bugtraq bug 4469819 to track this. Reassigning to Jim Melvin
