mail never gets sent, the busy bar keeps on
being busy, the compose window never disappears,
and mail never goes

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.compose mail, and try sending
2.
3.

Actual Results:  nothing

Expected Results:  mail should be sent
Can you try this:
Edit/Mail News Account Settings/outgoing server
and then "Use secure connection (SSL)"= Never ?
yes, changing the SSL option to NEVER on solaris allows mail to be
sent. This was not needed as recently as Friday 08/06/01.
