Which version of Firefox, device and version of SwiftKey are you using? Have you tried Nightly (http://nightly.mozilla.org) for Android?
Component: General → Keyboards and IME
OS: Linux → Android
Hardware: x86_64 → ARM
Firefox: Nightly from 24.03.2013
Swiftkey: Dunno, but was recent on 24.03.2013
not sure, if firefox or swiftkey-bug.

hi Alexander, this is an intriguing bug! :)
Which Android device and OS version are you using? Can you reproduce the bug using Android's stock browser?

Tab key worked fine for me using
* Galaxy Nexus 4.2.1
* SwiftKey 3.0.4.343
* Nightly 2013-04-25
* Apple Wireless Keyboard
Bug happens with Swiftkey / Swiftkey-Tablet and a generic USB-Keyboard.
Bug does not happen with the default android Keyboard-App, and it does not happen in the Chrome App with Swiftkey (Tablet).
So it seems the Keyboard App is handling it a bit different, but chrome can cope with it, while firefox (20) can't.

Hi Alexander! Do you still see the issue? Can you reproduce on latest Nightly for Android http://nightly.mozilla.org/ ?

Seems to be keyboard-dependent (soft keyboard I mean). I started seeing this recently with the Samsung keyboard on my Samsung Galaxy S4, but the Google keyboard continues to work fine. Annoyingly, the phone automatically switches to the Samsung keyboard when you plug in an external USB keyboard (or barcode scanner in my case) and I have to immediately switch it back for the tab key it sends after each scan to work on web forms.

Clearing needinfo.
The bug is 6 years old, I have a new phone and another soft keyboard and firefox probably changed a lot in between as well.
