I cannot download http://fugu.gale.org/dist/fugu-1.0.tar.gz with Mozilla 0.9.1. It completes immediately leaving me with a partially downloaded file (won't gunzip). However, I can download it fine with IE, or wget (cygwin). I've been downloading many other files fine. It may be very specific to this URL.
if the file was unzip'ed but kept .gz extention, this is a dup of bug 35956
WFM 2001070206/Linux. skcan@lycos.com, as R.K.Aa said this is probably bug 35956, which was fixed recently. Can you test it again with a recent build? Thanks!
