User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 Build ID: 20130307023931 Steps to reproduce: Use TB for a period of time - it all worked well. then, when I sent an email, it popped up a box saying Sending of message failed. An error occurred sending mail: SMTP server smtp.gmail.com is unknown. The server may be incorrectly configured. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again. Initially retrying the message several time might get th emessage to deliver. Subsequently I have been unable to get the message to deliver in spite of try very many times Actual results: As above. Other notes. TB 17.0.4, although this has occurred on other versions previous to this With Add-ins British English Dictionary 1.19.1, Test Pilot 1.3.9 and Lightning 1.9.1 Windows Vispa 64 bit. uptodate with patches. When it failed, I checked that I could ping smtp.gmail.com; This was successful. I took a network trace with wiresharl. The only related traffic was a NBNS lookup request (which receive no reply) for smtp.gmail.com. There was no DNS request for smtp.gmail.com This is an IPv4 (home) network. If I were to quit TB and restart it - it would behave perfectly - for a while - days, or several days. So it's not actually really a configuration issue. If I take a Wireshark trace of a connection that works, it consults DNS, not NBNS I see the network packets related to this I have been unable to take a network trace with TB because restarting it clears the problem. What I really need is the ability to add debugging on the fly when this failure occurs, but I am not aware of a mechnism to allow me to do that. I have to says I am suspicious that it is related to the inclusion of Lightning, but have no real evidence for that. I don't beleive that it has occurs when I have disabled Lightning, but as I use calendar a lot, I end up re-enabling it eventually. Expected results: Message be delivered
Jonathan, Have you seen this again?

I hadn't seen it for quite awhile, but it happened -once - about a week ago. again, cleared by restart. I was quite busy at the time so didn't really investigate. Did you think this may have been addressed, or is there anything I can gather next time if occurs?

I'm sure lightning is not related. Have you seen it again since comment 2?

No, I think it is safe to say that it's gone away! Let's just close this one out?
