I have tried with multiple devices (Buri, Unagi, Peak) and can't notice any difference. qawanted to check if it is only me the one not noticing it.

(In reply to comment #1) > Comment from Mozilla:I have tried with multiple devices (Buri, Unagi, Peak) and > cant
We can check on Unagi within Mozilla. We don't have the other devices available to check immediately, so someone else will need to confirm there.
Hi there, On the Buri, we turn off Adjust automatically and set Brightness to a value (like 1 or 0) manually, then turn off the screen or let the phone go to sleep after timeout, finally we turn on the screen (press the power key) and will find the brightness level is not what we set manually in the first step. If we want to go back to the Brightness value we have set before, we have to launch settings and set the Brightness again. Briefly, after wake up, the Brightness value changed to another value, maybe 0.5, everytime. (Assume the Brightness if between 0 and 1)
I cannot repro. Can you try to reproduce with the most recent build you have and tell us the tips of that build?

Tried on latest build, still same problem. Firefox os v1.0.1 Mozilla build ID:20130331070206 While, we will also check the problem at the same time. Any logs are helping?

Joe, who from Mozilla could have a look at this? This is not occurring in any other device.
Flags: needinfo?(jcheng)
kkuo, any investigation help can possibly be provided? thanks

We can found this issue in build id 20130410185334 Due to the permission limited, we can only have logcat/dmesg to analysis but no useful information found. We also test it in our lastest code in v1.0.1 and not found this issue. It goods like the default setting of backlight is set after device suspend/resume.

It seems we need support from reporter to progress with this

I believe that it's not necessarily with the after sleeping. If you set the device to automatic, it will be as dim as the setting shown in the screenshot regardless. Imagine this scene: the user don't want to use the "automatic adjust" and set a brightness they like manually, but everytime when they wake up the phone from sleep mode, the user always find the brightness is not what they set before. What a terrible experience! I found the system called power.screenBrightness = brightness; in the gaia/apps/system/js/screen_manager.js, the brightness is the user set before, and the power.screenBrightness is actually set to brightness, but didn't take effect.

(In reply to sync-1 from comment #4) > Briefly, after wake up, the Brightness value changed to another value, maybe > 0.5, everytime. qawanted to confirm that this only occurs briefly (test Buri with the latest build). If yes, this is not a blocker.

Reproduced, only on the Buri device does this happen. Doesn't repro on the Ikura. IMO, this is not a tef blocker, and should be tracking-b2g instead. the dimming is very slight, and does not break the user experience. Buri build: 2013041214825

Thanks Tony - sounds like we honor the user's requested brightness (minus some small %). Agreed on tracking but not blocking.
