Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130326150557
Steps to reproduce:
I updated Thunderbird to 17.0.5, but Lightning was not automatically updated. I am using Windows 7.
Actual results:
Lightning 1.9.1 no longer allows me to add events or tasks. No update of Lightning is available.
Expected results:
It seems a new version of Lightning is needed and should have been automatically updated.

It is very frustrating to have an email_diary/calendar system that is not working properly. I don't yet know whether present reminders will work.

I did a quick test using Lightning 1.9.1 with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/20130328 Thunderbird/17.0.5. Did not notice any problems.
Did you test the obvious things like checking if the calendar is not marked as read-only? Or trying to reinstall Lightning? Do you use other extensions that might affect Lightning and its calendaring functionality? Do you get any error messages? Please check in menu Tools > Error Console.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry to give you the work. I went back to test the problem and it had sorted itself. The only thing I had done was to re-start Tb and I had already done that once, so I'm not sure why the second time should have sorted it.
But supposing Lightning were marked as read-only, how would one change that?

Resolving as Worksforme according to previous comment.
If the calendar is marked as read-only a little lock icon will be displayed next to the calendar name in the left pane. Double click the calendar entry or choose Properties... from its context menu to change the read-only setting.
