Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130326150557

Steps to reproduce:

I opened the history tab with Ctrl + H and navigated to a website. After interacting with that website for a while, I attempted to close the history tab using the close button.

Actual results:

The history tab did not close and I attempted to close it ten more times (or more). I easily fixed it by pressing Ctrl + H again. I opened the history again to test whether or not it would close this time and it did close as normal.

Expected results:

The history tab should always close when pressing the close button.

WFM with Firefox 20.0.1 (Build ID:20130326150557), using STR from comment 0.
What is your CPU usage while you tried to close history? Does browser hangs?

I assume that the CPU usage was average because to my understanding this bug is not reproducible. Firefox responded to everything else like normal.
I run Windows 7 SP1 upgraded from Windows Vista on a 64-bit system.
I was running Firefox version 20.x

I had one tab open with no other instances of Firefox.

Assuming doesn't help to resolve this problem, knowing - does.
First, check is problem exists in Safe Mode (Help - Restart with Add-ons Disabled). If it is, then check current nightly build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/firefox-23.0a1.en-US.win32.zip. Just unpack it to separate folder and run from there. If nothing changes, install Profiler Add-on from https://github.com/bgirard/Gecko-Profiler-Addon/blob/master/geckoprofiler.xpi, reproduce problem with it running, upload profile and share link to it here
Please, provide requested in Comment 4 information

I recently reproduced this problem in the bookmarks tab, meaning that it is not restricted to one, but probably all the tabs. For both of them, I opened them with their shortcuts (Ctrl + H and Ctrl + B, respectively). The problem appears to be random and unreproducible. For the issue regarding the bookmarks tab, I opened Firefox to Google (my homepage), Opened my bookmarks tab, renamed one of the bookmarks that was under a divider, pressed enter to confirm renaming it, changed the URL of the site I was on by typing into the default URL bar on the top leftmost side of the screen, and tried to close the bookmark tab after the website had finished loading. My CPU usage was normal, I had one program (Windows Media Player) open at this time.
