I have a few add-on ideas that depend on the ability of other add-ons to extend mine by communicating with it. A simple async message passing interface would suffice.

Ideally one would use the add-on id to get a handle on an interface that would allow communication.
Depends on: 858812
Example: Ubiquity where commands are added via other add-ons
Working on a global event bus that's shared between add-ons for Places API -- let's talk about this

Feel free to add it to tomorrow's agenda:

Erik, let's talk about this Monday when you're back -- we held off on talking about it during the meeting to wait for you and what exactly you're looking for (and in a way that can't be done using the observer)
Given bug 858812, could you loop me in after the meeting? (I can't make Jetpack meetings, and don't think this needs a special meeting just so I can attend.)

I've given this more thought and I think it maybe possible to implement a prototype with the observer service, so I will do that.

Marking this as WONTFIX for now.
