Build ID: 20130326150557
Steps to reproduce:
I access synch'ed google calendars via gData provider. When I am an invitee to a meeting, and the meeting organizer has not set a reminder, there is no way that I, as invitee, can set a personal reminder on that event. It increases the chance of missing meetings. In the lightning event window, there should be an option to force a Lightning reminder, even though the google calendar event has no reminder set.
Actual results:
I missed a conference call, being there no reminder for my event.
Expected results:
A reminder should have popped up as it happens for all other Lighting events.

I think I saw a bug somewhere (but I cannot find it back) about the ability to set local alarms on read-only remote calendars. I believe that this is the same thing over again.

Tony, thanks for the comment and pointer. Mine is a read/write calendar. I can create my own event on the google calendar via Lightning - and in that case I get a reminder as expected. But not if I am the invitee - and If I have accepted the invitation via right-clicking on the grayed-out event window and selected the appropriate choice in the reply drop down menu.

I'll be more specific with steps:
- sign up for a google calendar
- install lightning and the google data provider
- add a remote calendar using the XML google calendar URL
- have somebody invite you to an event from his/her google calendar.
- when you receive the invitation, don't accept the email - accepting from the invitation email will create a duplicate event. Go to the lightning page, right click on the event (at this time is grayed out) and select open. Go to the reply drop down menu and select I will attend.
- now you are an attendee, but there is no way of adding a local reminder for the event

There has been a major rewrite of the Provider for Google Calendar between version 0.32 and 1.0. A vast number of bugs have been fixed during this rewrite, therefore I am closing lots of old bugs that I think might either be fixed or no longer apply to the latest version.
Please read the updated FAQ [1] for details on known issues. If you can reproduce your issue with the latest version of the Provider for Google Calendar and you can't find an existing bug that handles your case, please reopen this issue.
Thank you for your understanding.
