SMS has open thread, in the background, get new SMS for other thread, thread list doesn't reflect it

Saw this on my GeeksPhone today. Open a thread in the SMS app, then go to another app, receive an SMS, don't click on the notification but rather go back to the SMS app via task-switching, now go back to the thread list: the thread is not updated.
Related: in the thread list, go to homescreen, receive message, go back to SMS, thread list doesn't show the entry (but shows the date header).
can't repro on current builds
