When there are several ways of fixing a bug or when a bug is an enhancement that some people believe to be a wrong one (e.g. will make things worse), it would be nice if bugzilla could allow attaching a poll to a bug so that people could vote on the best solution. Of course, voting is not always the best solution, but at least it can be used to find out if there is a consensus or not (see for example bug #84905 where it could have helped a lot).
I can see plenty of potential for abuse here. I'm wondering whether only the assignee should be able to create these. On the other hand, this could be a good way of dealing with the voting on alternative solutions dilemma rather than having separate bugs.
The Bugzilla 3 component is going away. We're going to depend on the Milestones for this. At the time this component was created, we didn't have milestones for Bugzilla.
just had this idea, but i see it is already filed. this would be a GREAT option, and as already said, can help a lot, over many bugs and arguments. perhaps this would remove the 'Vote for this bug' option? this would be good, since no one really pays attention to it. also, it would give mozilla more of a democratic environment ;) i'm just wondering why this hasn't already been implemented, or why it is taking so long? it would have a great impact over arguments!
Reassigning bugs that I'm not actively working on to the default component owner in order to try to make some sanity out of my personal buglist. This doesn't mean the bug isn't being dealt with, just that I'm not the one doing it. If you are dealing with this bug, please assign it to yourself.
Bugzilla is not a forum. That's not the right place to ask users what they like the most. Core developers and reviewers are the ones who should decide which approach is the best, and we have flags for that. So there is no need to duplicate features. Marking as WONTFIX.
