I suspect there are many more gender issues in our strings. As yu know perfectly dear Benoit it is always difficult to find a workaround and avoid the alternative feminine --(e)

I would suggest
%1$S a demandé à recevoir une notification quand vous lisez ce message.
or
%1$S a demandé à recevoir un accusé réception quand vous lisez ce message.
