Placeholder for Community Twitter Avatar.

As we roll out Firefox OS, we can not possibly manage Twitter accounts in each locale ourselves. So we would like to investigate a "semi-official" Firefox avatar that instantly tells people this is info on Firefox, but it's Volunteer run.

We think it would be nice if the accounts could still have the correct branding elements, but have their own flair.

Example: When I was at Verizon, I tweeted with my photo, and a black ribbon banner that said "verizon" - could we do a logo with a ribbon treatment that says their location/language. Like "Greece" or "Spanish"

Carmen, can you advise more on the date? Is this something we'd need in time for the Engagement camps? Or before launch?

Sure, sorry about that.

Can we make it May 15? (Pre Engagement camps so we can localize?)

Carmen could we use 2-letter language codes for these?

ie:

- EN
- ES
- NL
- RU

It would be much easier to standardize the design for these, and it will also look more legible at smaller scale.

If you'd rather write out the whole word, "Greece" or "Greek" - hopefully, you have a list that I can use to optimize for the largest character count. Thanks!

My recommendation is to go with the language or region code, because it reads more clearly at a small scale.

Thanks Lee! Could you show it in context of an actual Twitter page? Would help to see it at the proper scale...my sense is that this looks great in the mockup you attached, but it may be a little too small to read at Twitter size.

I'm okay with using the short codes, but are those things WE use? Or something that someone on Twitter would "get."? For example, I'd never heard of Spanish referred to as ES until I came here.

Maybe the answer is a logo with a ribbon that says "Community" or something like that? It's definitely a hard nut to crack

Let me noodle on this for a few days - let's regroup next Tuesday. Meanwhile, I'll check in with the GR team (which kicked off this request) to see what they think about GR.

Here's a version of the avatar with the region spelled out completely, and what it might look like scaled down at avatar size

I like this - I'm wondering if we need it in Greek letters. It really is on my to-do list to check with the community. Now, if I could just get people to stop adding to the to-do list. :)

Update: I emailed the Greek social team today - they are usually quick to respond. Will update when I hear back.

I heard back from the Greek team. This works for them, and I think it's customizable for other locales.

Lee, could I have the PSD in the bug so I can either add the locale myself, or give the community managers of the future access to do it themselves? (Or would you prefer another bug for each locale as it arises?)

Thanks Carmen. Here's the PSD for the avatar. Please provide this to the community managers to localize themselves. The font used is Open Sans. Thanks!
