User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130409194949

Steps to reproduce:

Set Thunderbird to display menu bar, and run it with Windows basic or Windows classic theme.

Actual results:

The menu bar is displayed above the tab bar

Expected results:

The menu bar should be displayed *below* tabs, keeping tabs on top like it is displayed while using the default Aero theme.

I think that was intentional, Richard?
Flags: needinfo?(richard.marti)
Yes, this was intentional. The menu was hard to read on Glass and we decided to move the menu down only for Glass.

Blake, what do you think, should we on Win7 move the menubar always down when drawInTitlebar is enabled? Then we don't have the big unused space above the menubar and it's better recognizable for what the drawInTitlebar is good for.

Hmmm… I'm not sure. I mean, yeah, it was intentional, to avoid needlessly annoying the Windows XP users, but perhaps we should take advantage of the Firefox Australis push, and make our stuff a little more like theirs…

Mike, do you know what Firefox is going to do for the menu in Australis?

Yep - the menu is being drawn in the titlebar. The third screenshot here is currently the target for Firefox: http://cl.ly/image/423u0z1O0c3x

Bug 953204 moves the menu into the titlebar except on Aero.

Richard, Should this be confirmed? Or is it now obsolete?

I'm closing it as WONTFIX because it behaves on Basic and Classic the same as FX. If the user don't want the menubar above the tabs he can hide it and only activate it with pressing ALT when he uses the bar or he can use the AppMenu which has all the entries he needs.
