Currently when you install a hosted application with preloaded appcache on installation, there is no Android system notification to notify the user of successful installation.
Steps to Reproduce:
i) http://mozqa.com/webapi-permissions-tests/, install 'Hosted App with Appcache Preloading Test Case 1', and launch it
Expected Results: Android system notification of app install
Actual Results: Nothing
App appears in about:apps so it installed successfully.

seems to happen with a variety of the packaged apps demos too on http://mozqa.com/webapi-permissions-tests/
Summary: No Android installation notification created on installation of hosted app with appcache → No Android installation notification created on installation of hosted app with appcache & packaged

The appcache case should be working, so that implies a reression. the packaged app case is covered in a different bug for implementing the download UI. But we could split it out here if we want.

Is this ticket related just to the notification not appearing when appcache used, or is a desperate ticket required to fix the appcache content not being cached for hosted apps?

This is simply in regard to the system installation notification that is created. I haven't tested on recent builds, this is on my plate for re-testing to see if this is still an issue.

Yes, I continue to see this on Nightly (05/01).

This was likely fixed by bug 856131.

Aaron - can you retest now that bug 856131 is fixed?

This is still reproducible on Nightly (05/10) with the original steps outlined in comment #0.
