STR:
* Make lots of friends
* Add them to Facebook/Google
* Import a few hundred contacts from Facebook/Google
* Open Contacts app
* Type someone's name to search for them

Expected:
* Contact shown in results

Actual:
* Seems to get stuck on a spinner indefinitely

It seems to work fine when searching for a contact to send an SMS to, but not when using the Contacts app directly or via the Dialer. It also seems to work for a small number of contacts, e.g. if you only have one friend.

I've seen this on both v1-train on my Unagi dogfooding build and shipped v1.0.1 on a Keon.

Can confirm the exactly same problem with 766 contacts imported from LDIF file (via http://luther.ceplovi.cz/git/importLDIF.git) ... spinner never ends, although in SMS app the same contact is found almost instantly.

Using Geeksphone Peak with the latest 1.0.1 image from http://downloads.geeksphone.com/peak/latest.html (images-gp-peak-2013-04-18-ID20130418124521.zip at the moment).

adb logcat doesn't containg anything which would seem to be interesting.

Also, Contact app doesn't seem to show all contacts in the list ... e.g., a contact of "Gart Wright" doesn't show up under 'W' (I sort by the last name), although I can find it by the reference from the history of the last called phone numbers.

I tried to reproduce, but the scenario is not that easy. Any change of having a specific account/file for reproducing it?

It works for me for all the contacts I tried. I also logged the number of imported, retrieved and rendered contacts, and it matches... :S

I have sent a reproducer to albertopq, but the truth is that I cannot reproduce this on FF OS Simulator, just on the real Peak (with 1.0.1).

Cannot reproduce on the phone with build from yesterday's master. I am suggesting CLOSED/WORKSFORME. :benfrancis any problems with it?

This now works for me on the Keon after the latest OTA update. It's still a little slow, but it works :)

Please reopen if someone can still reproduce this on a device with a recent build.
