Steps to reproduce:


1. Create fresh profile
2. go to about:newtab
3. Hover the mouse pointer over the bookmark star button .    
Bug -- > There is no visual indication that this page can be bookmarked (like other pages)

4. Press the new bookmark star button, keeping the mouse pointer * on the star button (and not the 'down arrow') *





Actual results:

Nothing happens


Expected results:

Either the about:newtab should be bookmarked 
OR
the bookmarks should open.

And, if you bookamrk the about:newtab page using the right contxt menu,  the bookmark star button does not glow on the page.

the button is disabled on that page, the effect is subtle but should be visible. it's expected, for now.  We are evaluating to remove this difference though, so we may reuse this bug for that.

Does this bug refer to the bookmark button in the Awesomebar? If so I don't see it at all in the latest Firefox Nightly 24.0a1 on about:newtab. Can someone please clarify?

This bug referred to the separated bookmarks button, which has since been backed out.
