From bug 83632 In 6/14 builds on mac/win32/linux, I get a blank popup when I begin to type in the urlbar after starting up mozilla. But, once I hit the first match successfully, after that, I never get a blank popup. Steps: 1) start mozilla 2) begin typing in urlbar 3) autocomplete dropdown pops up, but is blank. Detailed Steps: 1) start mozilla and create a new profile 2) when browser has started, begin to type 'www.mozilla.org' in the urlbar 3) as soon as you type 'ww' a blank popup appears (plus 'Search' below it) 4) backspace twice, type 'ww': blank popup comes back 5) completely type www.mozilla.org and hit enter, so it's now an available match 6) type 'ww': blank popup 7) type 'www.m': popup now offers the one available match, www.mozilla.org 8) backspace and type 'ww': no blank popup (just 'Search' line) 9) type 'www.m': popup again offers the one available match. (Side note: on Mac, the 'Search' line is not showing up, just a thin grey line which is barely visible).

Seems to only happen in the first window.
Bug 92867 [suppsedly duplicate] is fixed by 0.9.4 release.
Priority: -- → P2
Target Milestone: --- → mozilla0.9.6
This works for me with 2001101513/Redhat 7.1 but it looks like the only reason that its working is because I have some URLs that start with www300. The first w typed brings up an autocomplete list showing the www300. URLs and URLs that start with www.w Second w typed just shows the www300. URLs.

This looks like its fixed on 2001102203 Win2k SP2...
nah, still happens on win98 2001102203 trunk. In the first browser window, type in location something like "<<<<<<" that is unlikely to have autocomplete matches; a blank space between location and search option still appears.
