Details

Steps to reproduce bug:

1) Download the DMG image of Aurora/Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/#aurora and copy it to /Applications.
2) Launch /Applications/FirefoxAurora.app as an "Admin" user.
3) Make sure "Automatically install updates" is enabled in Firefox's preferences.
4) Leave Firefox running until it automatically checks for updates, downloads an update and prompts you to restart to finish installing the update.
5) Switch to a "Standard" user and attempt to launch /Applications/FirefoxAurora.app. Instead of launching, Firefox will bounce once in the dock and disappear.

A temporary solution is to restart Firefox as the user who initiated the update; any user is then able to start Firefox normally.
I can reproduce that on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.8; rv:23.0) Gecko/20130426 Firefox/23.0

Ever confirmed: true
Bug 394984 landed a pretty substantial overhaul of how Mac updates handle permissions and multiple users; this should be fixed now thanks to that.
