Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0
Build ID: 20130409194949

Steps to reproduce:

Customize toolbars.
Reset toolbars.
Place in the addon bar anything (starting from the far right):
e.g.:
Firebug
  ["Close" "Spacer" "Firebug"]
S3Fox
  ["Close" "Spacer" "S3Fox" "Firebug"]

Actual results:

After dropping S3Fox to the left of Firebug, as indicated by the vertical bar, it is placed to the right of Firebug instead (on the far right). ["Close" "Spacer" "Firebug" "S3Fox"]

I then had to drag Firebug to the left of S3Fox, so that it would be moved by this bug to the right side, where I actually want it.

In fact, any icon placed directly to the right of the spacer is placed instead on the far right.

I also tried replacing the spacer - the same thing occurred, when placed next to the close icon, it was instead placed on the far right.

So, I could go on for days - it happens with everything I have tried.

But, the craziest part is: when the Customize Toolbar dialog is closed - they go to where I originally dropped them. WTF!

Expected results:

The icons should be placed where I drop them and where the vertical bar indicated it would be placed, before and after closing the customize dialog.
Summary: The Downloads add-on bar icon will not stay where I put it. → Add-on bar icons do not stay where they are dropped when customizing.
I was able to reproduce this bug only after installing the S3Fox add-on, and trying to place the separator, the space and various add-ons on the far right.
If I place them on the far left it works.
Also, if I disable the S3Fox add-on I'm not able to reproduce the bug anymore.

Reporter, could you please try the following:

- Reset the add-on bar and close it.

- Disable S3Fox add-on.

- Restart Firefox.

- Repeat your steps to reproduce.

If the bug is still reproducible, could you please make a screenshot and report exactly what you have done this time?

However in the future the add-on bar might be removed (bug 860814), so I'll mark this bug ad dependent on that one.

Unblocking from the Australis customization work, since this is unrelated.

No answer from the reporter after 20 days, and this bug is almost certainly caused by that S3Fox add-on. Closing as incomplete.

Assuming it is S3Fox issue - unmaintained plugin that can't even download from S3 properly anymore.
